And then there are dreams

Journeying we are, with our hearts in palms,
Exposed to the worldly worries, threats and qualms.
There are fears and dreadful times,
When dark everything seems.
There are failures and losses,
And then there are dreams.
One ray of hope that never vanishes,
Every downfall which can redeem.
So much there is to pull us back,
And then there are dreams.
The world witnesses the trials,
But the urge to give up and grievances go unseen.
So many reasons there are to escape,
And then there are dreams.

Where beauty lies🌼💫

I see them daily,
The trees...
Smoothly waving their giant arms at the passers by.
Shedding off what's wilted,
Waiting for the spring to stop by.
I observe them everyday,
The birds...
All flocked and frisky.
Soaring up high,
Never dwelling in envy.
I see them, the stars...
Who never seem wry.
Happy with their brilliance,
Lighting up the sky.
I see them daily,
The people around me.
Though emerging from the same nature,
Yet acting indifferently.
For once can't it be peace,
That we all live in?
For once can't we love,
All that beauty lies in?

The greatest artist

Rumbles have started growing louder.
 Now there appear bright flashes across the sky;
Filled with glee, thundering sadistically.
I admit they appear absolutely splendid to me.
Blue, white, dull grey and yellow.
No one ever says that's a great colour combo.
But is there a sight prettier than the grey clouds
Trying to cover the tints of soft crimson,
That sparkle throughout the infinitude,
Upon emerging from the yellow evening sun.
Then there appear patches of blue somewhere,
And look how longingly they make everyone stare...
Stare at nothing but their tranquil beauty,
That fills every corner of it as water fills the sea.
Aren't we earthlings strange?
We keep looking for the greatest artist ever.
I feel no greater artist there exists,
Than our very own nature.

Faith

Its been long since we spilled out of our houses to celebrate life and see merry faces. It's spooky how time flies when we're happy and it's strange, how it lingers on, when we direly wish for it to get over.

I feel shattered as I hear of the losses. I see happy families turn into bereaved ones. So many people I shared some of the finest moments of my life with, are gone... forever, leaving us behind with nothing but memories and in tears.

It's the cruelest face of itself that fate has revealed. I don't know how to answer the questions that keep being asked and how to face this. But I believe, there must be some way out. I fairly believe there must be.

It's nothing but unfortunate that we can't do anything except to wait for this to get over. But the 'wait' won't be long if there's faith. There'll be good times, and I believe they aren't too far. Just have faith and be with those you love.

Protect, pray, love and trust.

What needs rejuvenation?

There are several things a human comes across regularly. They help us develop our intellect more or less significantly. We think about them, ponder, make decisions and that's how our knowledge of things grows deeper with each successive day. However, there are some things that are special. We start thinking so deeply about them that we often lose the track of time.

The topic I think about almost everyday, is the current state of our world. When saying this, we just think about the environment, the nature and the surrounding which we have been exploiting for centuries now. But is it only the environment that needs rejuvenation? The past few decades have witnessed a significant decline in ethics, morals and virtues that should be necessarily possessed by every human on Earth.

Humans are considered the most intelligent species of organisms in world as they possess the ability to understand and communicate. But is this the only thing that makes us the most intelligent creatures?  Even animals can communicate and they too understand the instructions, when properly given to them. It is our ability to judge that makes us different from the rest of organisms we share the Earth with.

But we have forgotten all that we've been conferred with. Terrorism, robberies, threatening, killing, discrimination, corruption and several other malpractices have become common nowadays. You can find them in almost every corner of the world.

We certainly have to give our future generations a healthy Earth and environment to reside in. But apart from that, we also have to leave behind a legacy of humanitarian acts and some necessary ethics so as to guide them in future. Its important for us to realize, that a better and solitary life can be achieved only when we know what our duties towards the Earth, our fellow beings and other organisms are.

It is not only the nature but most importantly its our dying morality that needs rejuvenation. After all, it is the people that make a place good or bad to live in.

Triumph

I may not know,
Owning triumph by betrayal
But I know I emerge triumphant,
whenever I am myself and not someone else.
I know I emerge triumphant, when I don't assassinate my principles for the triumph of my greed.
And that I emerge triumphant, when I walk my way myself with my wholesome faith in my creator, rather than expecting support from a mortal being.

It is largely true, that the world cares for success. And there's nothing wrong when people say, victory in life's battlefield isn't easy and never without sacrifices.
But I know that I am triumphant, whenever I refuse to sacrifice my soul for success.
That I am triumphant when I find bliss even in loneliness when it's hard to find someone who accepts me as I am.
And that I am certainly triumphant when I deny the worldly pleasures to preserve the trust of my loved ones.

How I wish the world would care for honest triumphs...💓

Their Presence

There are some people in life, whom we lose before we realise their significance in our lives. They do hold a place quite important in our lives, but so silently that we don't even realise what roles do they exactly play. And then there comes that fateful day, when we lose them. I too have had such people in my life who, though holding some of the most important places, went so early, that I couldn't understand their importance. I dedicate this work to them.

Their presence:

Days came and went,
And years passed.
It's been so long since they left me.
I reminisce the days when I had the blessing,
Of their presence in my life.
I was too young and immature,
To realise the purity of their love,
And that such love could nowhere be found.
But, I now do.
I now know what their love meant.
But there exists a fact largely painful,
That I can no more cherish their presence in my life.
Their companionship was heavenly,
Their departure tragic.
And their memories and stories too sweet.
That's the only thing I now have,
That reminds me of their presence.💓💓

I have a heart too

When talking about rights, we often mistake rights, as something only humans can possess. But rights are nobody's property. Human being is not the only organism on Earth. We mustn't forget that we share Earth with numerous other species. Hence, every organism has got rights. But we don't respect these rights. Here's a poem that depicts the feelings of a few animals who've been captured and oppressed, animals whose 'Rights' haven't been respected by the 'most educated' creatures on Earth.

I have a heart too
I am called a Dog,
By my masters- the humans.
They capture and chain me,
And do all that is quite inhuman.
I have done no harm
To anyone of you.
Then why do you oppress me?
I have a heart too.

I have been named Cat,
By the civilised beings.
Who are not so civilised,
As I am seeing.
They buy me and call me a pet.
What if someone bought them too?
I feel pained just as they feel,
I have a heart too.

They call me a Bird,
A creature that flies.
But they imprison me in cages,
When I should be on the open skies.
God gave me these wings,
And brains he gave to you.
Why can't you understand my plight?
I have a heart too.

We are bought and kept,
And sometimes bullied and oppressed.
If you love us, let us live freely just as you do.
We can't speak but we do feel,
We have a heart too.

An incredible surprise

"Why do mornings come up so early?" Haley muttered to herself, as Mrs. Woods came up to wake her up with a smile.

"Good Morning dearie! And a very happy birthday."- said Mrs. Woods as she kissed Haley's forehead.

"Bad start to my special day... I have woken up so early!" - said Haley in reply.

"Haley, stop complaining at least today. It's your birthday!"

Haley Woods, a girl with an amazing intellect, yet, never satisfied with anything on Earth. Haley could be much more than what she was, if only she stopped complaining.

The way she saw life was a matter of concern for her parents.

"Oh gosh! Mom, ain't I getting anything other than the same old breakfast on my birthday? "My birthday dress looks boring. I had seen Sarah's last year. Hers was pretty good!" and a lot more.

Now, they were done with all her grumbling. This birthday, Mr. & Mrs. Woods decided to give Haley a gift of positivity and gratitude.

She was sent out of the house with some of her friends to give 'em some time to prepare. In the evening, when Haley returned home, she found the lights dimmed out, with not a single sound coming from the house. She entered the house, and saw a few lights on and some candles burning on the dining table. She went up to the table and saw a piece of paper kept on it. It said:

"It's your birthday Haley,

Many surprises await you!

A place there is; Where

Many of your childhood days, we have spent with you!

On a very special spot there,

You'll find your next clue!"

At first she was confused. But she recognised the place soon. It was the children's park near their house and the special spot was the sand pit there. She had played a lot there, when she was a child.

Haley muttered to herself-"What are they up to? Is the children's park going to be the venue for my party? No!"

Still grumbling, she went there, and straight up to the sand pit. She found another piece of paper, that said-

"Look around you,

And see carefully.

Do you see someone...

Who's smiling heartily?

Go ask them; Why

are they smiling so joyously."

She looked around herself and found many people smiling, but then she saw a man sitting beside the lamp post whose face was beaming and who was smiling quite gleefully. She went up to the man and asked him why was he smiling. The man replied-

"I am very poor. I don't get to eat daily. Today a lady brought me some food and pie. So generous. The almighty saved me from starvation."

Haley was a bit astonished on seeing this man's happiness for getting to eat "something", whereas she remembered how she had complained about the breakfast in the morning.

Then she looked back at the piece of paper. Beneath her clue, in very small letters, was written- "next clue overleaf."

She did and found her next clue:

"We pray for your wellness,

Everyday and night,

You'll find your next clue at a place,

Where people come to reduce their plight.

The clue lies at a spot,

*Which is at a height*"

She immediately figured out the place - Church. Haley reached the nearby church soon and went to the upper storey. She found her next clue in the balcony.

"Go down and watch,

The people who pray.

Ask them the cause of their prayers,

And carefully hear what they say."

With the same remark in minute letters:

"next clue overleaf."

There were a few people in the church. She saw girl who seemed of her age. She went up to her and asked her why she was there.

The girl said- "I had a bad accident a couple of weeks ago while I was riding my bicycle. I was quite badly hurt, but, by God's grace, I recovered soon. I came here to thank him for his mercy. Though I still have pain, but I believe, I'll recover from that too."

Haley felt regretful. She had never been that grateful to God for being blessed with a healthy body and mind. She wished the girl a quick recovery and moved on.

Next clue on the page was:

"We love you and wish you,

A very happy birthday.

Your next clue is at a place,

That's painted in white, pink and gray.

Usually kids don't like,

Visiting this place everyday.

You'll find your next clue,

In the area where you play."

Haley was confused and completely exhausted by this time. But anyhow, she had to continue. She thought for a long time, and then it occurred to her mind. "School!" she shouted. "It's my school building, that's painted with white, gray and pink colours. And no one likes to go to school everyday."

She quickly reached her school. There was no one there except the guard, who was sitting silently and was lost in deep thought. She sought his permission to go to the playground and got her next clue:

"Do you find someone,

Who looks gloomy and sad?

Just go and ask them...

What makes their day bad?"

...

"next clue overleaf."

Haley had just seen the guard acting weird. She went up to him and asked him, why was he so silent and he answered:

"It's my daughter's birthday after a couple of days. I don't have any money to buy her a gift this time. Such an unfortunate father I am. You kids are lucky to have parents who can buy you anything at any time of the year. I can't even afford a birthday gift for my lovely girl." He said this with teary eyes.

Haley was full of guilt and remorse. She remembered all those instances when she had poked her parents for not buying her expensive clothes and giving her all the luxuries. She had never been thankful to them for all that they had 'given' her until now.

She consoled him and left the place still full of regret. All the words of the guard kept revolving in her mind. Tears of regret welled up in her eyes. Now, she looked up at the page, teary-eyed.

The second clue said:

"Now it's time,

For this game to end.

Now you must reach the place,

Where, on this day, you call your friends!"

Home- finally it was time to reach her house. But something felt wrong. She was not happy.

Haley reached home wearing a sad face. She entered the house and was met by many people, eagerly waiting for her. She saw her parents, smiling at her. But she could not restrain herself anymore. Still teary-eyed she went straight to her mother, and hugged her tightly.

"I am so sorry Mom. I've been such a troublesome daughter doing nothing but complaining and grumbling. I have hurt you so much."

"It's ok Haley. We are happy that now you know, what God has given you, a healthy body, good mind, parents who care for you and food to survive. Everyone doesn't get that."

"Yes Mom. You are right. I'll remember this party forever. And this is the best gift I could ever get on any of my birthdays."

When I was a child

When there was not much to think about,
And mind was interested in knowing,
All that lies beyond the clouds.
When growing up sounded quite fascinating,
I remember how easy was everything,
When I was a Child.

The way I believed in fairies and elves,
And imagined flying on the magic carpet.
How exciting sounded the story of Snow White,
And how interesting was Briar Rose's secret.
So many mistakes were committed, yet there was no regret,
When I was a child.

When I knew quite less,
About the existence of evil.
And when I was totally unaware,
Of events and desires lethal.
Everything seemed so magical,
When I was a child.

There was a belief that miracles could happen,
And that ghosts could come to catch me.
I had trust in Santa Claus,
And believed adulthood could give me liberty!
So marvelous were those days-
Wild and carefree,
When I was a child.

Let's learn to fulfill!

'Tis the New Year Eve and I am still in a dilemma. What resolutions shall I make this year? What am I going to do this year? And how do I want my life to be, after this decade ends? These questions popping-up one after the other in my head make me feel so confused.

A thought strikes my mind and I chuckle to myself. And this thought is about a very old trend... making new year resolutions but never really fulfilling them. This sounds so queer. We are all so ardent when it comes to celebrating this day. But we never think about all that will happen with us for the next 364 days. Some might say that it's good to stop thinking about the future for sometime and just enjoy the present. Yes it truly is! But then, why did we curse 2020 by calling it "the worst year" the entire humankind has ever faced? We celebrated the first day of 2020 with the same enthusiasm with which we're celebrating the first day of 2021. Then what makes us think that this year will be better?

It is these resolutions and hopes that make us think so. For a minute, let us just stop doing everything else and think... We take such resolutions every year but we never completely fulfil them. Do we? Still they make us feel so much better. What if we really start trying hard to fulfill them. Life would be much more beautiful than we could even imagine!

This year let's resolve to learn, love, forgive and try... Try until we finally succeed. Every other resolution is a counterpart of these and every dream starts from here.

Let's learn, not just to resolve... But to fulfill!
